Official statement released today from Bullhead City Manager Toby Cotter regarding “Charlie” the dog. The animal is being quarantined at the shelter after biting a child:
"No dog or cat is being mistreated in the Animal Care and Welfare shelter in Bullhead City. Charlie has bitten a girl in the face and is under a mandatory quarantine through Tuesday per city law.
"We are working on several options with a local non-profit animal care organization and the owner who has requested the animal be euthanized. The city takes great pride to clean and take great care of the animals in our shelter. All animals have bedding.
"People from all across the country are spreading lies about the shelter, people who have never been to Bullhead City. Let me make it very clear - Charlie is not being mistreated and will not be euthanized this weekend. There is no emergency here.
"I will review Charlie’s case on Monday with the Chief of Police and Animal Care and Welfare staff. We will be happy to report on that outcome early in the week."
